Video is now Google's biggest bet. By 2013, Youtube had been existing for 8 years and had 4 billion views per day. That is, 170 views per video, per inhabitant of the Earth. 70 hours of video are uploaded every minute (2013 numbers, much higher these days).

There's no waste in advertising on YouTube. There are **no time restrictions** and you can **target your specific demographic audience** to talk to them about your brand, products or services. You can:

- Help users with ideas about how to use your products
- Entertain them with content they're interested in
- Inform more about your industry

And much more! In short, you can do branding and help rise your company's sales. That's why it's important to **define your specific goals**:

- Is your goal to boost traffic on your page and/or generate clicks?
- Is your goal to advertise your brand and measure and/or increase customer interaction?

For example, record labels are taking advantage of this tool and YouTube is now (2013) the second platform that brings more profits in sales to them.

## **Channels and Ads**

Companies can:

- Open a free channel
- Advertise on the YouTube page or in videos

**Channels** are powerful tools. Users can subscribe and build loyalty. Ads can be placed before, during or after the video. You will only be charged if the user decides to see it or click on it.

There are 4 different kinds of Ads:

- Video
- Play by click (expandable)
- Automatic running video
- Rich Media
